Act Like You Believe In Yourself

Posted by kelvinbroadus on July 17, 2012 at 3:25 PM Comments comments (0)

So often, especially in this Facebook world, you see people who love to share things with others. You find many people who are eager to share the great article they just read. Others are eager to share that new picture with the funny message on it. Others are so eager to share their new photograph. Others are simply eager to share what is on their mind...

You can always remember something you've learned or heard that made you excited, that you couldn't wait to share either.

What excites you?

See, by understanding this question, yo begin to show what has value to you.

The things you share are the things that are significant to you!!!

It is kind of like the little kid who, when someone stops by to visit, goes and gets all of his little toys and begins to show them to the guest one by one. He is proud of all of his little toys.

Understanding this though, seeing as though you desire to achieve your dreams and accomplish your goals, why don't you share them and share why you are the perfect person to fulfill those dreams???

All energy has a starting point and radiates outward from that point. The point of impact is the strongest force.

If your excitement about yourself, who you are, and what YOU have to offer is less than intense, how much more can you expect from others?

Your excitement over YOU needs to be CONTAGIOUS!!!

There is a certain confidence that must begin to apply to you about yourself!

You can and are more than willing to promote all of these pictures, ideas, quotes, etc., about somebody else... but what about you???

Are you not worthy of your own adoration? Yes, you are!!! But, you must get that understanding in your own head!

You demonstrate what you believe in, by what you buy/sow into and by what you promote/share. Start sharing the greatness of yourself!!! Act like you believe in yourself, and share WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER today!!!

New Swag

Posted by kelvinbroadus on July 10, 2012 at 12:20 AM Comments comments (0)

Hahahahaha…. is it me, or is the term “swag” just corny now?

I am going to share a “secret” with you right now that I probably SHOULD NOT be sharing for free, but only for my business coaching clients (by the way, for information on coaching services, get at me at www.kelvinbroadus.com). But nevertheless, I’m feeling extra happy at the moment. ;)

Don’t tell anyone this tip
. :P

It rests in sales psychology, as well as the general nature of man. We always want what’s NEW.

Just that simple!!!

…but not really.

See, the majority of people in the world are followers, or moreover, bandwagon jumpers, jumping on whatever the NEW thing is throughout life. This is why people like entertainers have to periodically re-introduce themselves.

The same old CD gets old after a while and you find yourself wanting something new. “There is nothing new under the sun,” says the Bible, but there are new faces and new packaging. Our job, as marketers and business people is to stay ahead of that curve of commonality.

We must stay ahead of the game!

Whatever it is that you are selling or marketing or trying to build must appear to be the next greatest thing, the new “IT” thing.

Customer loyalty comes from old customers who were newly introduced to something!

And, in your business, though it may not be new to EVERYONE in the world, it needs to be new to those who you are introducing it too, or at least presented in a new way!!!

That is very important!

It may not be new… it may be something they’ve heard over and over and ignored, but when you present it, it must be in a new way of looking at it, or else it will just be looked over.

So, I’ll end this as I could go way deeper into the psychology of it all, breaking down specific tools, techniques, etc., for maximum effectiveness… but, for that, you’ll need to sign up for paid coaching.

Yet for what I’ve shared so far, you should be able to do some “major damage” already. Therefore, keep it new, and it will continue to benefit you!

…continue to create, “a life worth fighting for!”

Who Are You?

Posted by kelvinbroadus on July 6, 2012 at 12:00 AM Comments comments (0)

I once heard a guy ask another about a historical figure – it doesn’t matter which historical figure because the principle is still the same – and he asked the other guy who the figure was…

The guy responded as expected listing off all types of historical facts about former icon, but in response to each fact, the first guy kept responding, “but WHO is he though? You are telling me all of these facts, but not telling me WHO he is…”

Listening to that exchange, my thoughts were:

Dude! You’re not making any sense by constantly asking “who!” It’s NOT THAT COMPLICATED.

It seemed like he was trying to be “deep” when it was so much simpler than he was making it. I guess he was looking for the other guy to somehow word the answer in some overly eloquent manner that would capture the deeper essence of the idea that this historical icon personified.

It’s not that serious though…

Who you are really is what you do and how you think of yourself…  As the eternal, divine wisdom states, “…as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” (Bible, Proverbs 23:7)

What is important, though, for anything that YOU want to pursue in your life, is YOUR answer to that question: Who are you?

If you don’t know what you like, what you don’t like, your own standards, your own morals, your passion, your skills, your talents, your beliefs, etc., then you are not prepared to use them for your pursuits.

Learn who YOU are!

It is essential for you to know who you are in order to take yourself to any level or place in your life. You must be confident in that person that you are, and only then by your excitement and full acceptance of who YOU are can you expect the rest of the world to jump on and support you in your life’s pursuits.

The first step in determining who and where you want to be, is first understanding who and where you are now. Once this is determined, you can build upon and make adjustments to that, to get to where you are going! Do this, and you shall begin to build “a life worth fighting for!™”

Instant Gratification

Posted by kelvinbroadus on June 25, 2012 at 11:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Can you imagine going to a restaurant, your favorite restaurant, for one of the greatest nights of your life, and you have been thinking about it for months and have the most awesome date you ever wanted with you only to get there and they don’t open for another 3 hours?

You’d probably shock yourself with your expressions of anger and frustration…

In theory, this is what happens when you “jump the gun” on something in your life by not waiting for it to be “right” because you need that instant gratification.

Our society is built upon the idea of instant gratification, and the greater that technology becomes, the worse it seems to get.

  • Many romantics never get to enjoy the purest, most intense love of their lives because they were in so much of a hurry that they gave their hearts, and everything else, to someone who was unworthy, and so then when the real thing comes, they have too much “baggage” to fully enjoy the complete experience of it.
  • Many people never get their dream cars or dream houses, because they were so impatient with getting one altogether that they couldn’t wait a little longer to save up and get it.
  • On a smaller scale, many people never reach their ideal health levels because they are always looking for some special quick diet to reverse what it took years or even decades to create.
  • Finally, many never reach their level of financial independence or success because they keep chasing “get rich quick” schemes instead of putting in the hard work of tried and true methods.

Instant gratifcation is dangerous!

Don’t get me wrong though, there is absolutely nothing wrong with finding a more efficient manner to go about your goals. This is the value of using coaches, consultants, and mentors, to help you bypass a lot of the failure and frustration by guiding you around the common pitfalls. (Note and Shameless Plug: Mention this blog post for a special discount on coaching/consulting at www.kelvinbroadus.com)

Yet, rushing through anything without establishing the foundation for it to stand on will always lead to an eventual failure.

So how can we make it work?

Change perspectives!!! Instead of looking at the final outcome for instant gratification, look at each step for that gratification. Look at each part of the process for your instant gratification. That way you can continually accomplish small goals, remain encouraged along the way, and still get the feeling of accomplishment as you work your way to the final goal. This shall keep you grounded, but also keep you moving in the right direction, and as you continue to go forward with this wisdom, you will continue to create your life worth fighting for!!!

The Greatest Art

Posted by kelvinbroadus on June 19, 2012 at 6:05 PM Comments comments (0)

I once watched a Kung Fu movie called “Shaolin vs. Wu Tang.” Okay, let’s be honest, I bought the movie. It is an interesting martial arts movie and it carries a common theme that even the great Bruce Lee talked about, and that was of the greatest art.

CAN THERE BE ONLY ONE?

The theme reiterated at the end of the of the video was that neither art was greater, and that they both would evolve. Bruce Lee is known for, though he was classically trained in arts such as Wing Chun, creating his own style that suited him better (based on the core principles of his foundation).

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

What that means for you is that just as there are many different businesses, paths, education paths, etc., that you can pursue, the only one that will work for you is the one that works for you!!

There are thousands and thousands of business and career types! One is not superior to another. What is important, however, is that you WORK IT using the universal core principles of business, following the system, and making sure it is what you are excited about.

YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL AT WHAT YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT!!!

Yes, you do have to follow a system. You do have to be consistent and follow core principles. But in terms of what business is the greatest… it’s the one that fits you and that you work!!!

Travel Time

I was recently driving to my "day job," which I will very soon be transitioning from into full time speaking, coaching, ministry, and entrepreneurship, and had a thought...

This Sucks!

I'm sure you all have thought the same thing at some point or another. It makes no sense to forever have to rush, rush, and rush some more to satisfy the needs of those who will never, and can never, give you your actual worth.

In fact, you are the only person who can give you your actual worth, and one way to help yourself is to take advantage of your "travel time."

TIME IS TOO VALUABLE NOT TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME instead of wasting it.

Long ago, I tried something unique to maximize that time. I really wanted to get my ministry work "out there" and so, with little money, got some wide, clear plastic tape and with "white out" I drew the URL on it.... nothing but the URL, www.ugfe.org, and I began driving as normal.

During that time period, the hits to my website increased dramatically. My ministry network began growing. The next thing I know, I'm getting letters in the mail about being submitted to the official Marquis Who's Who in America. I'm reaching people across the globe, and doing this all from a simple idea.

YOU CAN MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME ALSO!!!

Whether you have a business, ministry, activity, etc., to advertise, you can think out of the box and do simple advertising using the existing time that would be wasted. If you are trying to LEARN something new, use that time to listen to positive, educational, motivational TRAINING during your commute. The possibilities are endless, but it is up to YOU to add value to your "travel time" so that you can start building yourself, your business, your 'thing' like never before, and start establishing your own worth.

Maximize your travel time...

Inspirational Moment - Perpetual Betterment

Posted by kelvinbroadus on June 4, 2012 at 3:40 PM Comments comments (0)

In life there are three different statuses of being that we have. Either we are progressing, regressing, or remaining stagnant. The latter two, of course, are where we do not want to be. Life itself is meant to be constantly expanding. Someone was said, “If you’re not increasing, you’re dying.” The question, though, is how do we reach a point of continual, or perpetual, improvement? How do we continue to grow?

One good method of continued growth is what I call, “The Relay Method TM.” In a relay race, you have multiple runners who are going towards a finish line, but to ensure that a good pace is maintained, the entire length is divided among multiple runners who basically “refresh” the speed at the time that the prior runner would be getting tired. This prevents any segment from “stopping” and becoming stagnant, or even getting to the point of giving up and retreating (regressing).

For our goals in our lives, it is very valuable also to add some relays. Do everything you can to develop multiple streams of income, so when one becomes stagnant or regressive, you can pass the baton to another stream. Develop multiple connections/friends/comrades, so when one relationship begins to weaken, another can flourish. And in all of these, continue to maintain all of the streams or relationships so that you can continue to pass the baton in a continual cycle of improvement. So when you go through life, keep the opportunities open and cycling and don’t limit yourself to stagnation or regression.

Are You Ready

You are not ready to do anything that you are not already doing! No opportunity is going to be presented to anyone who is not providing proof of being worthy of that opportunity. If you want to make some big goal (career path, etc.) happen in your life, you should start by putting that goal into practice, building up your expertise or skill in it. Just as you would not invest much into something that you’ve never seen, neither shall opportunity be made to talent that has never been proven. Build your portfolio, create your samples, and showcase your skill… Once you do, then shall opportunity be made possible.

Current Situations

Posted by kelvinbroadus on May 18, 2012 at 2:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Your CURRENT situation is NOT current – as in present, standing still – but rather is a CURRENT, such as that which flows in the water at the beach. Your situation, though it seems like it’s not moving, is actually in a constant pull deeper and deeper into the abyss of the circumstance ocean.

In fact, if you are not willing to swim against it, go against the grain, do the opposite of what you’ve been doing, you’ll find yourself deeper into the sea of troubles and further away from the solid ground you are seeking. Therefore, keep swimming!

Keep swimming, and along the way find some other strong swimmers who are headed in the same direction you’re trying to go, and stay close to them for support (network and fellowship with success minded people). Use some flippers, which are more natural for the water, on your feet to give you a stronger swim (learn industry related information). Use the most effort when the sea is at its calmest levels (be up early or work late while everyone else is sleeping). If you can find someone who is willing to through you a floatation device and help pull you in (get a sincere mentor), do it! And finally, don’t stop until you get there to the safe dry land (stability).

Stop looking at your current situation as anything near stable until you get to where you want to be, because just like a water current, it will keep pulling you further away even without you noticing. Keep striving, keep pushing, keep praying, keep working, and you shall reach your promised land. You shall end up on solid ground.

Do It!

How many times have you said to yourself that you want to do this or that great thing, this great goal, or pursue a certain dream? …It is probably too many times to be happy about. There is often a common answer that we as people provide when it comes to doing what we say we want to do, and it often starts with the words, “they” or “no one.”

  • “I can do it but NO ONE will hire me.”
  • “NO ONE will give me a chance.”
  • “THEY won’t let me.”

At some point, however, we must take THEM out of the equation. If no one will hire me, I must hire myself. I must become my own first and best client and then use my own results as my advertising. I must show and demonstrate WHY “they” should invest in me by creating a major return on the investment of myself, even to the point that “they” are actually pursuing me instead of the other way around.

In general, we can always choose to wait on others to validate, promote, or empower us to accomplish our dreams, or we can choose to go after them full force ourselves, creating our own opportunities and yielding to no more obstacles. Don’t wait on others to help you fulfill your dreams. Hire yourself, and become the grantor of your own destiny.
